Russia and Georgia are accusing each other of continuing the
conflict over South Ossetia.
Fighting continues after Georgian
President Mikhail Saakashvili signed a ceasefire agreement proposed
by European Union envoys. EU mediators are expected to head for
Moscow later this Monday to try to persuade Russia to accept the
ceasefire. The EU has called on Russia to halt "all military
activity on Georgian territory". Meanwhile, Russia has accused the
United States of trying to disrupt its military operations by
flying transport planes of Georgian troops into the conflict zone.
The troops come from Georgia's deployment to Iraq. US President
George W. Bush has called the Russian offensive "unacceptable".
