German Chancellor Angela Merkel has arrived in Sweden for talks
with her counterpart Fredrik Reinfeldt on relations with Russia.
Stockholm is the first stop on a two-day tour, which also includes
Estonia and Lithuania.
The Baltic states and Sweden have adopted a
tough stance towards Moscow because of Russia's military operations
against Georgia. Germany and France favour more dialogue with
Moscow as part of their mediation efforts to resolve the crisis
over Georgia's breakaway regions. Merkel is also expected to
discuss a planned Baltic oil pipeline from Russia to Germany, which
has been criticised by Poland and the Baltic states.
