The lower limit is the defending of the current 84 mandates, Linek said.
The party holds one sole post of regional governor. He is Stanislav Juranek in South Moravia. The remaining 12 governors and mayor of Prague are from the senior ruling Civic Democratic Party (ODS).
The elections will be held in 13 regions. Elections in Prague that forms the 14th Czech region will only be held in 2010.
To enhance their election chances, the KDU-CSL has struck coalitions in six regions, which is twice as many as four years ago.
Their partners are mainly the Association of Independent Candidates-European Democrats (SNK ED) and the Unaffiliated political movement and the Movement for a Harmonious Development of Villages and Towns.
