29.08.2008 - Czechs respect scientists, doctors - poll

The calling of doctor is held in esteem by 70 percent, while 40 percent of Czechs over 15 years called it the most respected of all.
The profession of scientist and university lecturer was highly respected by 51 percent and 41 percent of Czechs respectively.
Nurses appeared among the most prestigious professions for the first time since 2004.
The poll was conducted on a sample of 1051 people over 15.
They were offered 26 professions for assessment on a one to 99 scale, with one the lowest and 99 points the highest esteem.
