The Georgian Foreign Ministry has said Georgia is to recall all
diplomatic staff from its embassy in Moscow because of Russia's
military presence in Georgia.
A spokeswoman said embassy staff will
leave on Saturday, following a parliamentary vote in favour of the
move. Russian troops have remained in Georgia following a conflict
over the Georgian breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia,
despite promising to withdraw in accordance with an EU-brokered
ceasefire. The EU is to hold a summit in Brussels on Monday to
discuss ways of forcing Russia to implement completely the
six-point agreement brokered by French President Nicolas
Sarkozy. Among other things, the agreement calls for the
retreat of Russian forces to pre-conflict positions.
