Thai police have used tear gas to disperse several thousand
anti-government protesters who tried to storm Bangkok police
headquarters.
Turmoil in the kingdom is escalating with increasing
demands for the seven-month-old government to step down. Protests
appear to be spreading from the capital Bangkok. Supporters of the
so-called People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) have forced three
airports to close down, including Phuket International Airport.
Rail services have also been disrupted. Thousands of activists
calling for Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej's resignation laid
siege to Bangkok's Government House for the fourth straight day.
They accuse him of being an illegitimate proxy of former Prime
Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was ousted by a military coup in
2006.
