Русская версияPalestinian officials say Egypt has briefly opened its sealed
border crossing with the Gaza Strip.
The Rafah crossing is to
remain open until late Sunday. Hamas security forces say they have
taken measures to prevent the flow of tens of thousands of
Palestinians to the crossing by setting up checkpoints. Only sick
people and stranded residents of foreign countries are to be let
through. The Rafah crossing was completely closed last year when
Hamas routed the security forces of Palestinian President Mahmoud
Abbas and ousted his Fatah movement from the Gaza Strip.
