Tens of thousands of people have marched in the streets of Taiwan's
capital to protest against the president's efforts to improve
relations with China.
Protesters say they fear President Ma
Ying-jeou is leaning toward China too quickly. It is the first mass
rally against Ma since his inauguration about three months ago.
Taiwan's sovereignty has been long disputed between Taipei and
Beijing. The two sides split amid civil war in 1949, but China
continues to claim Taiwan as part of its territory.
