Русская версияThe mayor of New Orleans Ray Nagin has ordered the city's residents
to evacuate on Sunday in the face of Hurricane Gustav.
Nagin
described Gustav, which has been upgraded to a Category 4
hurricane, as "the mother of all storms" and urged everybody to
comply with the evacuation demand. The evacuation order is the
first in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina devastated the city
three years ago. Meanwhile Gustav has moved into the Gulf of Mexico
after tearing through western Cuba with winds of up to 150 miles
per hour. The hurricane killed over 80 people as it traversed the
Caribbean. The US Federal Emergency Management Agency expects
Gustav to make landfall on the Gulf of Mexico coast as early as
Monday.
